The Kent Center Compeer Program

The Compeer Program is available to consumers who:

  • have a severe & persistent mental illness
  • meet the Community Support Program criteria
  • are receiving services from one of the other Community Support Services programs of The Kent Center

Compeer arranges for volunteers to be matched with consumers in a one-on-one or small group setting to provide support and social skills development through friendship. Volunteers provide supportive telephone calls to consumers coping with loneliness and isolation, while staff provide community psychiatric supportive treatment services to assist consumers in developing communication skills, social skills and supportive networks.

The Compeer Program at The Kent Center, part of the national Compeer Program, has received statewide and national recognition. CLICK HERE to learn more about being a Compeer Volunteer.
